Circumcision: Home Care

Healing after a circumcision usually takes about two weeks. Some swelling and a yellowish film over the area are part of normal healing — do not try to rub them off.

Care at home / घर पर देखभाल

• Apply the ointment we give (such as a plain antibiotic ointment) at each nappy change or as advised, to stop sticking. / प्रत्येक नैपी बदलते समय या सलाह अनुसार हमारी दी मरहम लगाएं ताकि चिपके नहीं।
• Give sponge baths for the first 2 days; then short, gentle washes. / पहले 2 दिन स्पंज स्नान; फिर हल्का धुलाई।
• Give paracetamol for pain as prescribed. / दर्द हेतु बताए अनुसार पैरासिटामोल दें।
• Dress in loose clothing; in babies, change nappies often. / ढीले कपड़े पहनाएं; शिशुओं की नैपी बार-बार बदलें।

What is normal / क्या सामान्य है

• Mild swelling, redness and a yellow film for several days. / कई दिनों तक हल्की सूजन, लाली एवं पीली परत।
• A few spots of blood on the first day. / पहले दिन खून के कुछ धब्बे।

• Bleeding more than a few drops, or that does not stop with gentle pressure. / कुछ बूंदों से अधिक रक्तस्राव, या दबाने पर न रुके।
• Difficulty passing urine or no urine for many hours. / पेशाब में कठिनाई या कई घंटे पेशाब न होना।
• Spreading redness, swelling, pus or fever. / फैलती लाली, सूजन, मवाद या बुखार।
