Before Your Child’s Surgery
आपके बच्चे की सर्जरी से पहले
A planned (elective) operation is much safer when your child is well prepared. Please read this before the day of surgery and ask us anything you are unsure about.
In the days before / सर्जरी से पहले के दिनों में
- Tell us if your child develops a fever, cough, cold or rash, or has been unwell — the operation may need to be postponed for safety. / यदि बच्चे को बुखार, खांसी, सर्दी या दाने हों या वह अस्वस्थ हो, तो हमें बताएं — सुरक्षा हेतु ऑपरेशन टालना पड़ सकता है।
- Tell us about all medicines and allergies. / सभी दवाओं एवं एलर्जी के बारे में बताएं।
- Complete any blood tests or scans we have asked for. / बताई गई रक्त-जाँच या स्कैन करा लें।
- Give your child a bath the night before or the morning of surgery. / सर्जरी से एक रात पहले या सुबह बच्चे को नहलाएं।
Fasting — very important / उपवास — बहुत ज़रूरी
An empty stomach during anaesthesia prevents food coming up into the lungs. We will give you exact timings; as a general guide:
- No solid food, milk or formula for about 6 hours before surgery. / सर्जरी से लगभग 6 घंटे पहले से ठोस आहार, दूध या फॉर्मूला बंद।
- Breast milk may be allowed up to about 4 hours before. / स्तनपान लगभग 4 घंटे पहले तक।
- Clear water may be allowed up to about 1–2 hours before — only as we advise. / साफ़ पानी लगभग 1–2 घंटे पहले तक — केवल हमारी सलाह अनुसार।
If your child eats or drinks outside these times, tell us — do not hide it. The surgery may be delayed for safety. / यदि बच्चा इन समयों के बाहर कुछ खा-पी ले तो हमें बताएं — छिपाएं नहीं। सुरक्षा हेतु सर्जरी टाली जा सकती है।
On the day / सर्जरी के दिन
- Arrive on time with your child’s reports, ID and any previous papers. / बच्चे की रिपोर्ट, पहचान-पत्र एवं पुराने कागज़ों के साथ समय पर पहुँचें।
- Dress your child in loose, clean clothes; bring a favourite toy or comfort item. / ढीले, साफ़ कपड़े पहनाएं; पसंदीदा खिलौना साथ लाएं।
- You can usually stay with your child until they are asleep. / आप आमतौर पर बच्चे के सो जाने तक साथ रह सकते हैं।
- The surgeon and anaesthetist will meet you and confirm your consent. / सर्जन एवं एनेस्थेटिस्ट आपसे मिलेंगे एवं सहमति की पुष्टि करेंगे।
Call us before surgery if / सर्जरी से पहले हमें कॉल करें यदि
- Your child develops fever, cough, cold, vomiting, loose motions or a rash. / बच्चे को बुखार, खांसी, सर्दी, उल्टी, दस्त या दाने हों।
