After Your Child’s Surgery
आपके बच्चे की सर्जरी के बाद
Most children recover quickly after a small operation. This sheet covers general care at home. Your surgeon will also give you any instructions specific to your child’s operation.
Eating & drinking / खाना-पीना
- Start with sips of water and a light diet; return to normal food as your child feels well. / पानी के घूँट एवं हल्के आहार से शुरू करें; ठीक महसूस होने पर सामान्य भोजन दें।
- A baby can breastfeed or take formula once awake. / शिशु जागने पर स्तनपान या फॉर्मूला ले सकता है।
- One or two episodes of vomiting can happen — wait an hour, then try again. / एक-दो बार उल्टी हो सकती है — एक घंटा रुककर पुनः प्रयास करें।
Pain relief / दर्द से राहत
- Give paracetamol (and ibuprofen if advised) at the doses we prescribe. / हमारे बताए अनुसार पैरासिटामोल (एवं सलाह हो तो आइबुप्रोफेन) दें।
- Do not exceed the prescribed dose. / निर्धारित खुराक से अधिक न दें।
Wound & dressing / घाव एवं ड्रेसिंग
- Keep the dressing clean and dry; give sponge baths for the first day or two. / ड्रेसिंग साफ़ एवं सूखी रखें; पहले एक-दो दिन स्पंज स्नान कराएं।
- Some bruising or mild swelling around the wound is normal. / घाव के आसपास हल्की चोट या सूजन सामान्य है।
Activity / गतिविधि
- Let your child rest today; most return to school in a few days. / आज बच्चे को आराम दें; अधिकांश कुछ दिनों में स्कूल लौट जाते हैं।
- Avoid rough play, cycling or straddle toys as advised for the specific operation. / उस ऑपरेशन हेतु बताई अवधि तक उछल-कूद, साइकिल या घोड़ी-वाले खिलौनों से बचें।
Call us urgently if / तुरंत हमें कॉल करें यदि
- Fever, increasing pain, or redness/swelling/pus at the wound. / बुखार, बढ़ता दर्द, या घाव पर लाली/सूजन/मवाद।
- Bleeding through the dressing, or the wound opens. / ड्रेसिंग से रक्तस्राव, या घाव खुल जाए।
- Repeated vomiting, a swollen hard abdomen, or not passing urine. / बार-बार उल्टी, पेट सख्त-फूला, या पेशाब न आना।
- Your child seems very drowsy, floppy or unwell. / बच्चा बहुत सुस्त, ढीला या अस्वस्थ लगे।
