PUJ Obstruction (Pyeloplasty)
पीयूजे अवरोध
The pelvi-ureteric junction (PUJ) is where the kidney drains into the ureter. If it is narrowed, urine backs up and the kidney swells (hydronephrosis). Many cases are picked up on antenatal scans; others present with pain, infection or a lump.
Mild cases are watched with scans. If the blockage is significant or kidney function is affected, an operation (pyeloplasty) widens the junction and restores drainage.

पीयूजे वह जगह है जहाँ गुर्दा मूत्रनली में खुलता है। यहाँ सिकुड़न होने पर मूत्र रुककर गुर्दे में सूजन (हाइड्रोनेफ्रोसिस) कर देता है। कई मामले गर्भावस्था के अल्ट्रासाउंड में पता चलते हैं; अन्य में दर्द, संक्रमण या गाँठ दिखती है। हल्के मामलों पर अल्ट्रासाउंड से नज़र रखी जाती है। रुकावट अधिक होने या गुर्दे की कार्यक्षमता प्रभावित होने पर ऑपरेशन (पाइलोप्लास्टी) से जोड़ को चौड़ा कर निकास ठीक किया जाता है।
