Some babies are born without a normal opening for stool (imperforate anus), or with the opening in the wrong place. It is usually noticed in the first day or two of life. Depending on the type, the baby may need an early operation, sometimes with a temporary stoma (colostomy), followed by a definitive repair (pull-through) and later closure of the stoma.
With timely surgery and follow-up, most children go on to have good bowel control. Careful long-term follow-up helps manage constipation and toilet training.

कुछ शिशु सामान्य गुदा-द्वार के बिना, या गलत स्थान पर द्वार के साथ जन्म लेते हैं। यह आमतौर पर जन्म के पहले एक-दो दिन में पता चल जाता है। प्रकार के अनुसार शिशु को शुरुआती ऑपरेशन (कभी-कभी अस्थायी कोलोस्टॉमी), फिर मुख्य सुधार ऑपरेशन और बाद में कोलोस्टॉमी बंद करने की आवश्यकता हो सकती है। समय पर इलाज से अधिकांश बच्चे आगे चलकर मल पर अच्छा नियंत्रण पा लेते हैं।
